Temple Run Launches on Windows Phone 8

The popular mobile game Temple Run is now available for Windows Phone 8 devices, Microsoft announced on Wednesday.
The free game was just published in the Windows Phone Store, so Microsoft warned that it might take a few hours before to appear. The version launching today on Microsoft's Windows Phone platform is the original Temple Run, first released for iOS devices in 2011, not the newer Temple Run 2.
The addictive game challenges players to "race over obstacles and whip around corners on a pathway resembling China's Great Wall, all on your way to capturing hidden treasure," Microsoft said. Along the way, players will collect coins and buy power-ups as they run for their life and use their powers to cheat death.
Besides Temple Run, Microsoft today announced a slew of other games making their way to Windows Phone, including Gravity Guy 2, the sequel to the popular Gravity Guy. The $2.99 sequel is available for download now, and will be exclusive to Windows Phone for the next month.
Other titles hitting the store this week are: Chaos Rings, 6th Planet, Propel Man, Orcs Must Survive, and Fling Theory. All these titles will be available for Windows Phone 8, except for Chaos Ring, which is only available for Windows Phone 7.5 devices.
"New Windows Phone 8-compatible gaming engines make it much easier for programmers to quickly create Windows Phone versions of their Android and iOS games, so keep you eye on the Store in the months ahead for even more great titles to arrive," Microsoft's Michael Stroh wrote in a blog post Wednesday.
For instance, Ratrod Studio, which makes Drift Mania Championship 2, said today its forthcoming title Street Outlaws will be landing on Windows Phone 8 this summer.
