Microsoft rumoured to unveil second-gen Surface tablet in June

New Delhi: We have been hearing for a long time that Microsoft is working on a 7-inch Surface tablet and now a new report from Digitimes has to say that the company may unveil the next-gen Surface tablets in June at its Build Developer Conference.
The second-generation Surface devices reportedly will feature 7- to 9-inch displays to meet the rising demand for smaller tablet devices, claims the report.
The report further suggests that due to the poor sales of the first-gen Surface tablets, Microsoft is a little cautious over promotions for its second-generation models.

The report claims, the second-generation Surface devices reportedly will feature 7- to 9-inch displays to meet the rising demand for smaller tablets.
Microsoft had expected to sell around 3-4 million units of the Surface tablets, but it could only achieve sales of 1.5 million units for its first-generation Surface tablets (one million Surface RT and 500,000 Surface Pro).
"Microsoft retained most of its component suppliers from the first-generation models for the second-generation ones with Pegatron Technology staying as the devices' manufacturer. Chassis are supplied by Ju Teng, switching from China-based Chungnam Precision Casing; displays are supplied by Samsung Electronics and LG Display, glass Corning, batteries LG Chem, processors Intel and Nvidia, keyboards Chicony Electronics and Ko Ja (Cayman) and touch panels TPK and Youngfast," says the report.
