Samsung's Huge 6.3 Inch Galaxy Mega Nears The Launch Pad

Galaxy is planning two new supersized smartphones for Summer and Autumn launch, one at 5.5″ and one at 6.3″, according to rumors that have picked up momentum over the past 24 hours.

The origins of the 6.3″ smartphone rumor actually go back to the Samsung Galaxy S4 reveal in mid-March – the Korean company simultaneously gave out the specs for an attachable games’ console that could dock a phone of that size.

But the rumor picked up substance when Sammobile revealed what it claimed were detailed specifications for the phone.

The Galaxy Mega 6.3 will have a 6.3” PLS HD resolution display, a 8 megapixel back camera, a 2 megapixel front camera and a dual core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz. The Galaxy Mega will have 1.5 GB of RAM. Of course Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 80211 a/b/g/n and A-GPS are on the device too. Samsung will bring the Galaxy Mega 6.3 with a battery juice of 3200 mAh, the dimensions are 88×167.6×7.9mm, which is the same thickness as theGalaxy S4.

The news of two upcoming Galaxy phones, probably due for release mid-year, comes only days afterSamsung acknowledged they would be launching three other, new Galaxy smartphones, the Galaxy Star, Galaxy Pocket Neo and the Galaxy Win, and in the same month that the S4 will find its way into shops.

It continues Samsung’s phenomenal pace of innovation, though it also glosses over their lack of presence in the self-owned apps’ store segment.
